Robert Burns, II is an award-winning, published photographer based in the Charlotte, NC area. He has been practicing photography for a decade.
I have been practicing photography for what feels like as long as I can remember now. I never really had an intention on mentoring others, but after many requests, I began to do so. Over the years, I've taken on several second shooters, and taught them things along the way. That was how it began -- then as my work improved, I got more and more requests from newer photographers that look up to me, and want to know how to improve their work drastically. With so many people I already work with, naturally I now have to charge for my time. I prefer to only work with those who seek out mentoring from me -- I don't twist anyone's arm to be mentored.
In other words: I need to be paid upfront for all mentoring sessions, and we work on a regular basis, I expect you to take my recommendations and suggestions. I will ask.
